Diana Teta

Bio

Born in 1992 in Nairobi, Kenya, Diana Teta is a musician from Kigali, Rwanda. She is also a songwriter who writes and performs both traditional and modern music. Her love for music began at the age of eleven. She composed her first song at that age. She lived in Kenya and Uganda and returned to her home country in 1995. She sings gakondo music. Her career in music began in 2009 when she appeared in the top three in a singing competition conducted by a German group.

This enabled to record two songs before entering Tusker Project Fame 5 in Nairobi, Kenya. In 2013, she made the decision to join the music industry on full time basis. Her collaboration with the Urban Boys on ‘Fatafata’ made her popular. He is a member of the Art for Peace Association that aims at creating a safe space for Rwandan youth to speak about their experience, reflect on the country’s history and forge a sense of belonging in the renewed Rwanda in a creative and celebratory way.
