Chidinma

Bio

Chidinma (full name, Chidinma Ekile) is a Nigerian singer. Born in 1991 to Igbo parents, Chidinma grew up in Lagos state. She was offered admission at the University of Lagos when fame came calling through the third edition of the music talent hunt show MTN Project Fame West Africa (2010). Performing songs from Mariah Carey and Celine Dion, she won the contest, bagging a record deal along with the N2.5 million cash prize and a car.

The record deal produced a self-titled album and its third single 'Kedike' (2012) has come to be her signature song. In the same year she won the Best Female West Africa Act category at Kora Awards, a detail she mentions in the remix to 'Emi Ni Baller' (2013) which features Wizkid. The original song features Ill Bliss and Da Suspect, frequent collaborators. Both versions show a feisty side to the songstress, as she skips singing for a forceful delivery verging on rap. She is signed to Capital Hill Records, a label owned by Clarence Peters.
