Call for proposals: Youth Expression Festival 2018
The South African State Theatre’s (SAST’s) department of Education, Youth and Children Theatre (EYCT) is calling on professional young art practitioners to submit their proposals for the 2018 edition of Youth Expressions Festival.
The submission deadline is 6 October 2017.
The event, which will be in its 10 year in 2018, will celebrate a decade of staging young people’s professional work and commemorating the struggles fought by the youth during the Soweto uprising in 1976.
Proposals will be considered in the following genres:
- Music
- Musical Theatre
- Dance/ Physical Theatre
- Drama
- Poetry
- Children’s Theatre
- Visual Arts
To be considered for the Youth Expressions Festival, all proposals should meet the following requirements:
- Applicants must be between the ages of 18 and 35.
- Motivation letter of how the production is relevant, meaningful and entertaining.
- Creative team information that includes biographies and contact details.
- Full script and a brief synopsis.
- A fourpage narrative treatment
- For visual artists, a portfolio is required.
Successful candidates will receive venue, technical and artistic support from the SAST. All proposals must be submitted to eyct@statetheatre.co.za with the genre being proposed as the subject line of the email.
Designed to provide development opportunities for emerging arts practitioners, the SAST seeks to present the very best performing arts work from the local community, the province, the country and from around the world.
