Nigeria: Lamboginny releases Food Is Ready album
Nigerian activist and Afro-dancehall singer Lamboginny has released his sophomore album Food Is Ready.
Comprising 11 tracks, the collection follows 2017’s Saving All Lives Together, and draws on themes of joy, love, gratitude and harmony. It uses delicacies from around the world as a point of departure. It’s release was preceded by the singles ‘Move’ and ‘Sak Pase (Remix)’ featuring well-known Haitian artist Tony Mix.
Sonically, the album carries an array of dance pulses, including Afrobeats, dancehall, highlife and amapiano.
The musician’s website says Food Is Ready was inspired by Lamboginny’s food adventures with his wife Ling on their food and lifestyle channel Ling & Lamb. “His reflections of joy and happiness can be felt in each song on the album that was ultimately inspired by his feelings after trying different meals from America, the Philippines, Jamaica, Haiti, India, Italy and so on”.
“Music is the only way I can express the joy I feel after eating all of these amazing foods,” the musician said. “I hope these songs bring joy to millions across the world and inspire people to try foods from other cultures.”
Lamboginny also hopes to “use the album as a platform to provide free meals to 1 million homeless or economically disadvantaged people within and outside our communities” by collaborating with soup kitchens and food programmes around the world.
