Call for registration: Online gospel music academy
Registrations are currently ongoing for this year's Ultimate Music and Business Academy for emerging gospel musicians and professionals, which will be held virtually between 30 September and 1 October.
Now in its second edition, the seminar is organised by All-Star Music Group in association with Spotlight Music Management. The academy is running under the theme, The Monetisation of Music and will take a deep dive into the links in the value chain, which are integral in realising a financial return on music creativity for independent artists. Its focus will be to address the business issues that exist, specifically for gospel artists, producers and musicians.
“Our aim is to provide insight, understanding and appreciation of the types of business practices and strategy that have led to success for non-Christian artists,” the organisers said.
“This is undoubtedly one of the most comprehensive and insightful two days of training for singers, producers, songwriters, managers and music business practitioners, and will be an invaluable, defining experience”.
The programme will see presentations by TuneCore, Believe Music, Revelator, PopRev, Continued Entertainment and Boomplay, which will take participants through a variety of topics, including Advantages of Artist and Label Services, Music's Royalties Revolution, Evolution of Music Investment Funds, Decoding Digital Distribution, Music Streaming Strategies, Stats and Revenues, and Traditional Media vs New Media.
Guest panellists will include musicians Praiz, Evelle, Jessica Kioja, Becca Folkes, Jimmy D Psalmist and Sarah Tiebo. The rest are DJ Milktray (Radio 1Xtra), Raebel (Kontrak Music), Douglas Jekan and DJ Gosporella (Beat 99.9 FM), and Oye Akideinde (MTN MusicTime).
This year will also see the return of the Dream Team Deal competition, whose winner will receive a one-song deal including production, PR, marketing, distribution, radio plugging and expert legal advice. The organisers say a mentoring program will run alongside the Dream Team Deal campaign to train 14 aspiring musicians in releasing music independently.
