Call for applications: Cav’ Township Drone Divas programme in Pretoria
Goethe-Institut South Africa’s Cav’ Township project, in partnership with AB4IR Hub, is calling on women based in Mabopane, Pretoria, and surrounding townships to apply for its Drone Divas programme.
Cav’ Township aims to contribute to the creative and cultural industries in South Africa, through enabling creative organisations and small businesses towards income generation. The Drone Divas initiative is a women-only training programme intended for individuals between the ages of 18 and 35. It offers practical training in drone operation, coding and cinematography, and will provide an introduction to entrepreneurship.
The programme will run from September to November 2021 and aims to train a total of 20 women. A further 10 successful women, chosen on merit, will be placed in creative drone operation businesses/companies for another three months. They will receive a stipend throughout the internship in selected partner companies that could potentially employ the participants after the Drone Divas programme.

Who can apply?
- Females aged between 18 to 35 years.
- Township-based females (preferably living near the AB4IR facilities).
- English-proficient individuals.
- Those with interest in technology and innovation.
- Advantage to those who studied science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics (STEAM) subjects.
