Call for submissions: Fak’ugesi African Digital Festival poster competition
The organisers of Fak’ugesi African Digital Innovation Festival are inviting African illustrators, animators, art directors, motion and graphic designers, and 2D & 3D designers, to submit designs for its 2021 official poster.
Fak’ugesi African Digital Innovation Festival seeks to bring industry players and creators together to celebrate how technology enables creativity across their themes, which include digital music, digital art, gaming, animation and immersive media (AR, VR & IR).
The winner will receive the following:
- A cash prize, an hour of mentorship with a festival speaker and a profile on the Fak’ugesi Festival website.
- The winning design will become the star of the 2021 festival poster, a continent-wide invitation to an exciting immersive virtual experience, which includes workshops, screenings and exhibitions, a new virtual expo and many more.
- The winner will become the official paid digital artist for the Fak’ugesi African Digital Innovation Festival 2021 (with potentially more graphic work in the festival).
- The winner’s and runners-up’s creative profiles will be featured in the festival and any of its press or media interactions from 14 to 24 October.
Interested artists can submit their applications here before 31 July, and the winners will be announced on 4 August.
The submission needs to be:
- A symbol for the festival theme, #BuildCozYouHaveTo. Applicants should take their inspiration from the festival’s 2021 manifesto.
- In the most standard file format, dimensions and resolution for the artist’s medium.
- Suitable for as many surfaces as possible, from print to billboard screens (that means if the artist’s GIF/animation wins, it will need a still frame too).
- In the 2021 Fakugesi Festival colours (view Fak’ugesi African Digital Innovation Festival’s official website).
- True to the artist, the continent and the potential of tech-fueled creativity.
“This year is all about building: From low-code solutions and virtual goods to collaboration and the new creator economy, the boundaries have never been lower and the potential has never been higher, there are no limits to what you can build,” a statement reads.
