Call for applications: Young Curators Academy in Germany
The Maxim Gorki Theatre in Berlin, Germany, is calling on interested individuals to apply for this year’s digital edition of the Young Curators Academy (YCA).
YCA is an artistic and activist platform for discovering alliances, exploring affinities and consolidating solidarities. It seeks to nurture public debate, focus artistic conversations and act as an amplifier for energies and intensities of resistance.
The 2021 YCA is a digital edition of the Young Curators Academy (DYCA), which responds to the different worlds after the pandemic intervention. It is an opportune time to reconsider expression, resistance, activism and communication in the translocal contexts of the participants.
The participants will be involved in lectures, collaborative workshops and discussions, culminating in publishing an online journal embracing different genres and selecting thought pieces.
The programme involves:
- A marathon presentation to be held on 12 and 13 August 2021. Each participant presents a digitally, prerecorded project in English to a public audience (15 min max). All videos will be streamed for a day and afterwards be available on demand.
- A series of eight workshops to be held between 9 and 24 September 2021. The workshop is a hybrid of online public events as well as online close-door sessions consisting of:
- A public programme of lectures, performed research, screenings, archives of visual culture, with international scientists/artists/activists.
- A closed-door collaborative discussion/workshop/informal gathering platform for peer-to-peer interactions among the emerging activators.
- The production of an online journal that will embrace different genres and select thought pieces from DYCA participants. This will form the beginnings of a digital archive of the YCA.
