Call for entries: World Malaria Day creative challenge in Nigeria
Nigerian creatives can now submit entries for the Ned Nwoko Antarctica Challenge held in commemoration of World Malaria Day on 25 April.
The contest, held under the auspices of businessman and philanthropist Prince Ned Nwoko and organised by his non-profit, the Ned Nwoko Foundation, is open to artists across all creative disciplines including music, film, art, poetry and dance, to interpret his 2020 Antarctica expedition in different forms while raising awareness about Malaria.
Nwoko’s symbolic Antarctica trip sought to refocus global attention on the eradication of malaria, which is deemed as the oldest and deadliest health challenge in Africa. It also made him the first Nigerian to visit the South Pole.
The top 10 entries will be invited to Abuja for the grand finale on 25 April. The competition’s ultimate winner will receive a prize package including ₦2.5m ($6 500), a luxury trip to Mount Ned in Delta State on a private jet and a weekend at a luxury hotel in Abuja.
To participate, interested individuals can enter via the competition’s website.
Thereafter, they must upload a link of their content onto the website, and share it on Instagram with the following hashtags: #NedNwokoAntarcticaChallenge, #ZeroMalaria, #DrawTheLine and #WorldMalariaDay2021.
Note: The duration of the content must not exceed eight minutes. Additionally, applicants must follow @princenednwoko, @nednwokomalariaproject and @princenednwokofoundation in Instagram for the entry to be valid.
The deadline for entries is 17 April.
