Call for applications: COVID-19 relief grants in Rwanda
The Imbuto Foundation in partnership with the Ministry of Youth and Culture in Rwanda, is accepting applications for the Rwanda Arts Initiative (RAI) incubator programme for creatives affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The programme is part of the Cultural and Creative Industry Recovery Plan grant launched in July last year to support enterprises in the cultural and creative industry for artists to recover from effects caused by COVID-19 pandemic.
The grant seeks to:
- Support initiatives from art enterprises and artists.
- Promote free access to resources, facilities and training opportunities for artists.
- Engage Rwandans to learn about, love and buy made-in-Rwanda art.
The programme will support 30 innovative and viable projects, with the potential of impacting artists’ ability to increase revenue, alongside sustaining the growth of employment opportunities.
Successful applicants will be natured to achieve the following outcomes:
- Creation or support for new jobs and services in line with the innovative support towards COVID-19 response.
- Increase technical and entrepreneurship skills among key players in the Cultural and Creative Industry (CCIs).
- Digital commercialisation: through skills building, digital solutions and other access to market solutions targeted at the CCIs.
- Increased revenues for artists: emanating from the local and regional market's increased interest in consuming made-in-Rwanda art.
- Increased capacity of CCIs players to cope with changing market dynamics – improving skills, diversifying offering based on current demand, going digital.
- New solutions for the formalisation of the CCIs.
Who can apply?
The following are eligible to apply:
- An entrepreneur operating in the culture and creative industry in Rwanda.
- Individual(s) with an existing business or an idea of a business model with market potential within the CCI sector.
Note:
- Existing business or idea of a business model with a digital component will be highly considered.
- Female cultural and creative entrepreneurs are highly encouraged to apply.
Requirements
- Name and contact details of the applicant (phone and email address).
- The name of the business or the name of the business model idea.
- A short description of the business or the business model idea (max five sentences).
- A short description of the RAI Incubator programme’s expectations to sustain the existing business or initiate and realise the business model idea (max five sentences).
