JioSaavn launches distribution service for unsigned artists
Indian music streaming service JioSaavn has launched a new development service called Amplify, which offers direct distribution globally to unsigned emerging artists.
The programme is part of its existing Artist Originals initiative. Artist Originals is an independent record label and a division of JioSaavn, which represents South Asian artists on a global scale, with offices in New York, California, Mumbai, Gurgaon, and Bengaluru.
Amplify will source artists from referrals and online demo submissions. Interested artists can submit their demos via the Artist Originals official website. The programme will provide artists’ releases with editorial coverage, high profile placement on JioSaavn playlists, press and radio promotion, and sync licensing, while their music will also be distributed to more than 100 digital partners, courtesy of JioSaavn’s partnership with The Orchard.
“In addition to your base agreement, we offer artists select access to premium Artist Originals label services which may include any or all of the following: funding, digital marketing, label management, artwork and design, and local marketing plans in international territories,” a statement reads.
Artist Originals director of A&R Hiba Irshad said: “This programme intends to find and provide a platform for the next generation of independent artists.”
To kick things off, five songs from Amplify artists, including Burrah, Trishes, Abhilash Gupta, Arjun Tikadar and Siddhant Kochar, will be released.
Artist Originals features independent South Asian voices from across the world including India’s rich and fast-growing music scene. The catalogue brims with music across genres in Hindi, Punjabi, Kannada, and English.
Meanwhile, Artist Originals in August partnered with licensing start-up SyncFloor to bring South Asian sounds to the sync licensing marketplace.
