SA: Arno Carstens to release new music this week
South African singer Arno Carstens has announced that he will release two singles on 27 March.
The singles, titled ‘Midnight Screams’ and ‘Erupt’, are available for pre-save and pre-order here.
The videos for ‘Midnight Screams’ and ‘Erupt’ were directed by Lionel Smit and will premiere on YouTube on 26 March. The Springbok Nude Girls frontman also hosted an interactive live YouTube stream on 21 March. This after the South African government banned gatherings of more than 100 people amid the COVID-19 global pandemic.
The upcoming singles are the first two of a 10-part collage of music that Carstens will release this year. Although not a studio album in the traditional sense, Carstens’ team said, his intention is to present a complete body of work before the end of 2020.
Carstens said: “The title track, ‘Midnight Screams’, is an uplifting ode to lovers, that speaks of how just one night of pleasure, can change the trajectory of a person’s life forever. I like the raw sound of demos and have always thought we lose some of the magic when songs are overproduced. With ‘Erupt’, I think we’ve managed to capture a raw moment in time, without all the wizardry that overcomplicates things. I think I’ve discovered a new voice in a way.
"'Midnight Screams' will touch on the nature of God’s unpredictability, the heartbreak, the loss, the conquering spirts and the terrifying confrontational moments of realisation that force change. My musical journey, and specifically what I’m presenting here, is more personal than ever before. I’m embracing the new and the unexplored,” he said.
