Yemi Alade

The spotlight shone on Yemi Alade when she won the first edition of the Peak Talent Show in 2009. She released a few songs and featured on a few others, most noticeably in Dipp's 'Rock Your Body' (2012). The song's steamy video went viral, fuelling rumours of romance between the duo and garnering nominations.

The ballad 'Bamboo' (2013) raised her profile but it was the comic, romantic 'Johnny' (2013) and its video, released in 2014, that proved a hit and made her a singer known to more than her initial fans. Her debut album 'King of Queens' was released in October 2014.

In 2015 she was nominated in the USA for a BET Award in the category Best International Act (Africa). In same year, she won the Best Female award at the MTV Africa Music Awards.

Her sophomore album 'Diary of an African Woman' was released in 2016. The album features three African acts from outside of her country: the group Sauti Soul, DJ Arafat and rapper Sarkodie.
