Weku Kronkron Band

Bio

Wekukronkron is an Afro-Pop band Ghana.

The band was formed by bandleader Moses Batintora in 2006. His missionary zeal was then supported by Boniface Batintora, Francisca Allotey, and Clement Teiko Agbo, as they became the pioneers of the band. Batintora, who holds a bachelor’s degree of art in music, has trained numerous musicians through his foundation.

The band composes songs in languages from different cultures in Africa. As an Afropop band, they use local instruments from different cultures in Africa, in addition to western instruments for their compositions. They use four singers at front-line who are wind-instrumentalists as well. The band has composed and recorded more than 50 songs to their credit.

The group was awarded and has performed at countless renowned platforms. They have had interviews from numerous media platforms, due to their virtuoso performance and authentic music, as mentioned.

In 2012, the band won an award for ‘Best Afro Band’ which was organized by IMD (Institute for Music and Development). They composed and recorded a song entitled ‘Vegetation’ during this competition to create awareness on Forest Protection.

Their mesmeric stage performance has catapulted them to well-renowned platforms like RTP Award, Winners Party(Alisa Hotel), Celebrating Accra(Obra Spot Park), New Music Ghana(Goethe Instute), Sound Splash(TV Africa), KSM Show (Thanks God Is Friday) and Afro Jazz Concert.
