Vigro Deep

Vigro Deep (Born Kamogelo Phetla) on 6 September 2001 in Atteridgeville, Pretoria, Vigro Deep is one of the most influential figures in the evolution of amapiano. Raised in a musical household, he drew inspiration from his father, Victor "DJ Spring" Ngcongwana, a founding member of the pioneering deep house collective Godfathers of Deep House. Although he initially aspired to become a rapper, his growing fascination with music production led him toward crafting beats and developing a signature sound that would later help shape modern amapiano.

Vigro Deep began producing music in 2017 and quickly emerged as one of the genre's brightest young talents. After leaving school in Grade 10 to focus on music full-time, he built a reputation through a series of self-produced releases that showcased a darker, more experimental interpretation of amapiano. His breakthrough came with projects such as Untold Story and the acclaimed Baby Boy series, which established him as a key architect of the Pretoria sound and earned him recognition both locally and internationally.

Known for his deep basslines, atmospheric textures and innovative production techniques, Vigro Deep has consistently pushed the boundaries of the genre. Critics and industry observers have credited him with helping popularise the log-drum-driven sound that became central to amapiano's global rise. His work has attracted collaborations with leading artists including Kabza De Small, DJ Maphorisa, Focalistic and Young Stunna.

Among his most notable achievements are the gold-certified singles "Blue Monday" and "Africa Rise", while the collaborative hit "Wishi Wishi" reached number one on South Africa's official music charts. Throughout his career, Vigro Deep has maintained an independent approach to music-making, prioritising creative freedom while expanding his reach through international performances across Africa, Europe, the United Kingdom and the United States.

Today, Vigro Deep is widely regarded as one of amapiano's pioneering producers. Through projects such as Far Away From Home, My House My Rules and the long-running Baby Boy series, he continues to influence the genre's direction while introducing South African dance music to audiences around the world.
