Theophilus Sunday
Bio
Theophilus Sunday is a Nigerian gospel minister, revivalist, and songwriter known for his deep prophetic chants and intense expressions of prayer and worship. He hails from Kogi State, Nigeria, and is widely regarded as one of the leading voices of revival in his generation, particularly among young believers hungry for deeper intimacy with God.
His journey into public ministry began during his time as a student at Kogi State University, Anyigba, where he actively participated in campus fellowship gatherings. It was in these early prayer meetings and worship sessions that his distinct spiritual expression—marked by scriptural chants, prolonged prayer, and deep consecration—began to take shape. These moments formed the foundation of his ministry and revealed a clear calling toward intercession and revival.
Before gaining national and international recognition, Theophilus Sunday ministered faithfully in small gatherings, fellowships, and local churches. His ministration style, which focuses more on spiritual depth than musical performance, set him apart. Rather than conventional gospel songs, he became known for chanting Scripture-led melodies that stir repentance, surrender, and alignment with God’s will.
He is the convener of Sunday Heart Cry, a non-denominational worship and prayer movement dedicated to raising an altar of prayer, holiness, and spiritual awakening. Through this platform, he has ministered across Nigeria and beyond, impacting campuses, churches, and conferences with a strong message centered on prayer, purity, and total dependence on God.
Some of his well-known chants include “I Have Decided to Follow Jesus,” “My Heart Is Yours,” and “Take What Is Yours.” These chants have become common in prayer meetings and personal devotion spaces worldwide.
Theophilus Sunday’s ministry continues to call believers back to the secret place, emphasizing a life of sacrifice, obedience, and unwavering pursuit of God above fame or popularity.
