Tewelde Redda

Bio

Tewelde Redda is from Eritrea, and may well have been one of the first people in Africa to start playing an electric guitar back in the 60s. He was one of the more important figures in the modernization of Ethiopian/Eritrean music in the 60s and 70s. In fact he is still modernizing it today, spending some of his time building electric versions of the traditional Ethiopian/Eritrean Krar.

Tewelde has been living in Holland as a refugee since 1989.
