Susan Augustt

Bio

Ghanaian roots phenom Susan Augustt, is a budding soul & jazz singer/songwriter. As a new generation takes the reigns there is the need now more than ever to consistently remind ourselves of our Culture and what better way to do this than through the creative Arts- MUSIC. Born of Ga-Ewe descent in Accra, Susan Augustt grew up between two worlds: one her family's deep appreciation for Academia and career pursuance and two her zeal to listen, watch and learn music selecting vocal role models such as Ella Fitzgerald, Amy Winehouse, Beyoncé and many great acts As the years went by; while still pursuing Education from her Home residence in Obuasi-Anglo-gold Ashanti, through to St. Louis S.H.S in Kumasi to University of Ghana she never departed from her passion. She continued to participate in Music talent shows, bands and choirs and remained deeply engulfed in music. After graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology she went ahead to do her compulsory National Service at a financial instgitution. During her national service and with the help of her team she put together an amazing Music Band known as HotStuff Band with her as the lead singer. This had become her part time job as she and the Band performed each weekend at private events such as weddings, parties, launches among others. Fortunately, she was retained to continue her job after national service and is currently undergoing a management trainee programme. The experience in her Marketing role also helped a lot in her music as she was able to secure a contract with African Regent Hotel to play at their lobby every Friday evening. This coupled with an increased number of gigs made it possible to expand and go beyond just performances but also recording her own music. Susan Augustt is on the verge of achieving one of her dreams of acquiring her own music recording live studio where all the 'magic' will happen. She has just started with basic set up and gradually she is working on this amazing project. With a soothing voice for Jazz music she does contemporary African music which seeks not only to bring entertainment but also to affect society in a positive way. Her new EP “Effects” is a Trio Release (3 songs) and would leave you wanting more as it has various styles and was played and recorded with a live band. It has Foreign Love, a play on the Green Card wahala of the African man. Obaa, an ode to the hardworking woman who wants to make headway in life. Dromo is to calm you down and appreciate the gift or grace you have been blessed with either from someone or from yourself. There is more music to come and she is only getting started with this journey. Jimmy Hendricks once said, 'Music does not lie, if there is something that needs to be changed in this world, then it must be done through Music'.
