Soul Safari blog

The Soul Safari is a South African blog run by Eddy De Clercq, a DJ and producer who has recorded and released music for record labels such as Go Bang, Aspro, R&S, Warner Music and Blue Note. As a collector, De Clercq specializes in the collection African and dance music styles.

The collection of African music on Soul Safari’s pages has grown since De Clercq’s first visit to South Africa. De Clercq discovered archives and long lost collections of beautiful music on his many trips to South Africa. De Clercq states that much of the music is so rare that little is known about its whereabouts since much of the original legacy had been erased from history.

The reason for De Clercq’s main focus of the blog in the popular and traditional music genres from South Africa and the sub-Sahara African region is based on the country’s past - records from the period 1940 - 1990.
