The Scullery Quintet

The Scullery Quintet is A new classical and contemporary crossover group, that is made up of a not so traditional string quintet. The ensemble features the standard string quartet configuration: first violin, second violin and viola, but in this the Cello role is replaced by Contra Bass. The fifth instrument in the quintet is Contemporary drum set, the role of the drums and contrabass is to bring a sense of groove and a modern twist to the group.
The quintet plays a variety of music that is not specific to a particular genre, yet the instrumentation implies both the tradition of classical music and of popular music. Performing arrangements and improvising on compositions by their favourite composers which range from Vivaldi, Dvorak , Herbie Hancock , Weather report to Radiohead, this quintet is by no means purist in its repertoire.
The Quintet is led by veteran drummer Peter Auret with Amaeshi Ikechi on bass, Hana Yim-Wahl and Waldo Luc Alexander, alternating between 1st and 2nd Violin and Tiisetsto Mashihi on Viola.
