Sahle H Giorgis

There are many famous music producers in the capital city, Addis Ababa. In the music industry, having an influence in the growth of the music market additionally contributing to the country's music scene by producing ample famous musicians work. Sahle H/Girogis (owner of Sol Kuku music shop) is one of the many producers to take the lead in the music genre.

Sahle H/Giorgis was born and raised in the country side area called Illubabor. He got his B.A. degree in Economics from Addis Ababa University, although he didn’t continue in the field he graduated in. He shifted to become a private entrepreneur following his childhood passion for music. Sahle opened his own music shop and produced many musicians in collaboration with other producers.

Sahle, having a great taste and know-how of music, listened to other producers works and made adjustments to works which have sound quality problems by re-mastering the works to produce an even more appealing sound, which made his music shop sale original works.

Sahle’s first work as producer was an Oromigna song by Abtew Kebede. Sahle and Abtew had a long friendship from back in Sahle’s stay at Illubabor. During the arrangement of this work, Sahle contributed in adding beautiful musical instruments like mandolin, bass guitar, and box guitar to come up with great Oromigna songs which are still listened to widely.

Sahle has produced many successful works, to name but a few: Abtew Kebede, Tsegaye Eshetu, Kenedy Mengesha, Kiros Alemayehu, Yeshiemebet Dubale, Asefu Debalqe, etc. Sahle is a producer who is the means for the success of many young artists.

Having grown up in Illubabor area, Sahle knew Zeleke Gessese, the founder of Dallol band. He collaborated with him to release the reggae album “Selam” in a time Addis wasn’t a potential market for reggae music. This bold move made Sahle a contributor to the opening of the reggae music scene in Addis.

The other thing that made Sahle a unique producer was the time he took to gather different musicians to form bands (which were nick named “Amora band”) and organize them to play in his studio accompanying different singers, to record and produce many successful works. Sahle is a great producer who also records live performance by synchronizing recordings directly from the sound system to come up with an ear pleasing sound.

Sahle is a respected producer who encourages singers by attending their stage performances, showing his great affection and respect to music and musicians.
