Phillipine Makhotla

De Makhotla was born in the Mid-sixties at Bloemfontein and later moved to the dusty small town called Mafeking, which later became Mafikeng, when he was four years old. Music has always came first for De Makhotla as he always participated in musical activities, which included singing with his mother at church and being in a mist of boys who will be busy making hand made guitars.

In 1987 when the Mmabana cultural centre started its classes De Makhotla was one of the first students to register, majoring in lead guitar. He completed Grade 5 Theory of Music, with Royal School of Music. His compositions were included; in year-end concerts line up that Mmabana music unit organized.
