Bio

Nadia Nakai, real name Nadia Nakai Kandava, is a South African artists with a trace of Zimbabwean descent. She was born on 18 May 1990. Her love for hip-hop and rap music began when she was 16 years old. Nadia, who once lived in Kenya, made her first appearance on the music with a single titled 'Like Me' in September 2013. She was 18. She has since collaborated with popular artistes like Ice Prince and Kwesta. Her first record label which was signed under Sid Records, is owned by Psyfo. She is the first female winner of Shiz Niz’s mixtape 101. Her music earned her fame and saw getting invited to judge at SABC1 Hiphop show called Battle Stations. She has featured on 5fm’s DJ C-Live’s 'Taste Makers Mixtape'. She signed under Cassper Nyovest’s Family Tree record label.

In 2014 Nadia featured on Riky Rick’s 'Amantombazane Remix' alongside established hip-hop acts such as Okmalumkoolkat, Kwesta, Ginger Trill, Kid X and DJ Dimplez. The single was nominated for a South African Hip Hop Award for Song Of The Year.

In 2015 Nadia featured on Dj Sliqe’s Metro FM Award nominated single, 'Do Like I do Remix' featuring L-tido, Reason, Riky Rick and Flabba. Nadia’s single, “Saka Wena” featuring artist Ice Prince was nominated for the Best Collaboration Award at the South African Hip Hop Awards. Nadia's follow-up single, "Best" featuring M.I(Agaba) and Victoria Kimani was received positively.

In early 2016 Nadia appeared on the cover of Zkhiphani.com magazine. Since Signing to Family Tree Media she has begun recording her debut album, no release date has been set.
