Mrisho Mpoto

Mrisho Mpoto is an experienced performer of all times and writer with an international reputation. He is Africa's number one Slam Poet and currently holds the title of third best in the entire world. Mrisho is a multi- award-winning artist who is committed to developing the skills of young people in and out of Africa so that they can find employment and engage in positive life choices.

In 2009, Mr. Mpoto continued emerging as one of the most prominent traditional artists in Tanzania and named as one of the Zeze Award winners during a colorful awards presentation gala held at the Tanzania Art Institute (TaSUBa) in Bagamoyo. That same year, his song 'Nikipata Nauli' became a song of the year and won him a first award in Tanzania’s annual music awards “Kilimanjaro Awards.

Mrisho’s traditional music and poetry won him a second Award in Tanzania ’ s annual music awards “Kilimanjaro Awards” in the year 2012 with his song 'Chocheeni Kuni' . He was nominated in 2014 for his song 'Waite'

Mrisho Mpoto was nominated second time in the AFRIMMA AWARDS (Africa Magazine awards) in the category of the best traditional artist as well as the 2015 KORA awards. He was also chosen to be a Korafightsebola Ambassador in Tanzania. Mrisho Mpoto's efforts have been recognized all over Africa and the world as a whole and still he believes this is the start of African dominance in traditional music and Theatre performances.
