Mariam Ndagire

Bio

Mariam Ndagire (born May 16, 1971) is a Ugandan female singer, entertainer, actress, playwright, film director and producer.

She was born in Kampala to Sarah Nabbutto and Prince Kizito Ssegamwenge. She went to Buganda Road Primary School, Kampala High School and Nabingo College. She studied Marketing at Makerere University Business School Nakawa and Makerere University school of Music Dance and Drama.

Ndagire began her acting career while still a student at Kampala High School with the Black Pearls at the then Riverside Theatre. Ndagire is also a Film Producer, Writer & Director on top of being an actress. She has written, directed and acted in Hearts in Piece, Strength of a Stranger, Where We Belong, and Series Tendo Sisters.

She also started The Next Ugandan Music, an American Idol style show. Ndagire also started a new training workshop for film makers at her center, The Mariam Ndagire Film and Performing Arts Centre, which holds film workshops for filmmakers every year. Among the workshops' notable participants are Sarah Kisauzi Sentongo, an actress with Deception the NTV Uganda TV Series and screenwriter Usama Mukwaya.
