Maglera Doe Boy, born Tokelo Moyakhe on 3 August 1993 in Reitz, Free State, and raised in the Kanana township near Klerksdorp, is a South African rapper, songwriter, and record producer known for his sharp lyricism and authentic portrayal of township life. He began releasing music publicly in 2015 with his debut EP Progression, which earned him early recognition in the hip-hop scene. Maglera gained widespread prominence after featuring on “Never Ride” by MashBeatz, a track that went viral and helped elevate his profile nationally. Over the years, he has collaborated with major South African artists such as Boity, Blxckie, Cassper Nyovest, Dee Koala, and Nasty C, while also signing a distribution deal with Universal Music South Africa through Khuli Chana’s Mythrone Records. Known for blending gritty township realism with melodic and conscious lyricism, his music resonates with fans across South Africa and beyond. Maglera has received numerous accolades, including Best Male Artist at the South African Hip Hop Awards in 2022, a BET Awards 2025 nomination for Best New International Act, and his first platinum plaque for the collaboration “Let Me Cook” with K.O. Beyond music, he has made an impact in fashion and culture, curating music for major festivals and collaborating with brands, cementing his position as one of South Africa’s most influential and versatile hip-hop artists.
