Jeff Tennyson Quaye, professionally known as Jay Q, is a Ghanaian musician, record producer, record executive, sound engineer, songwriter, and keyboardist, born on December 24 in Osu. He is the founder and current CEO of Q-Lex Entertainment and Jay-Qlex Recording Studio. Jay Q has produced albums for and managed the careers of numerous musicians, including Buk Bak, VIP, Castro, Mzbel, Obrafour, Daddy Lumba, Nana Acheampong, Ofori Amponsah, Akosua Agyapong, Obuoba J. A. Adofo, and Wulomei, among others. As a producer, he is credited with popularizing Hiplife, Highlife, and Gospel genres. Notably, Jay Q introduced Jama (kpanlogo) into Hiplife, which gained significant recognition and acceptance in Ghana, Africa, and globally. In 2003, he received an award for Best Sound Engineer in Ghana.
