Heart Breaka

Bio

Mamud Jeng, better known by his stage name Heart Breaka is a reggae and dancehall artist from Gambia. He was born in Farafenni. Breaka also plays the guitar. He attended school in Farafenni and later studied musicology at Hi Tech Music School in The Gambia. While studying music, he met PJ Coron, a local producer who introduced him to the late Modou Jammeh of BullDorft Studio. This saw him dropping his first single entitled ‘The Earth is full of wander and Sign’ under BullDorft Studio. The song was produced in 2003 by MJ.
In 2004, the ‘Smiling Coast’ saw him getting nominated in the Best Artist category. MJ produced the song. Breaka released a number hit singles and music videos. He has collaborated with handful local and international artists.

In 2014, he released his maiden album called ‘Loving is Growing’. The 16 track album was produced at Music O Records. In 2015, he travelled to German to establish a record label called Hard Breaka and the Reggae Yard. The recording stable also has a recording studio and a live band known for performing at European festivals. In 2016, he conducted a tour around Gambia to promote his second album titled ‘Total Blessing’. The project features songs such as ‘Woman and Child’, ‘Sounds Are Growing’, ‘One Hand Wash The other’, ‘Drop it Down’ and ‘Feel no Pain’.

He is known for encouraging artists in his country to continue working hard and maintain the positive vibes for the sake of the younger generation.
