Harare International Carnival

Bio

The Harare International Carnival is an annual week-long carnival organized by the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority. The focus of the event is on advancing the arts, culture and heritage of Zimbabwe while uniting its inhabitants. It is all about celebrating diversity by getting communities together, getting to know one another, in the love and harmony that builds our country into a peaceful and promising place for everyone.

As a country, Zimbabwe prides itself on its rich cultures and traditions. The carnival offers a variety of music (particularly jazz) and dance. The organisers goes as far as inviting musicians and bands from other countries. For example, in May 2014, they invited the Exodus Steel Band from Trindad and Tobago and 12 Brazilian samba dancers, who performed during the Samba Night. Some of the local artists who have so far graced the event are Pee Kay, Cindy Munyavi, Beverly Sibanda, Zoey Sifelani and many other dancehall artists.
