Faisal Kiwewa

Faisal Kiwewa is the founding director of Bayimba Foundation in Uganda.

Through Bayimba, Kiwewa has made various contributions to transform the arts sector by supporting and creating numerous platforms for artists in his home country and the East African region. One such platform is the Bayimba Festival of the Arts, a diverse gathering held in Uganda’s capital Kampala every year.

Kiwewa's efforts to build bridges in the arts sector has additionally grown Bayimba into a production house and academy, the latter of which provides visual and performing artists with year-round training.

Kiwewa was a fellow at DeVos Institute of Arts Management in the US from 2010 until 2012. He has completed various training programmes at Academia Vitae (now CREARE Foundation) in the Netherlands (2009), the National Arts Fundraising School in the UK (2010) and the Atelier for Young Festival Managers in Turkey (2011), among others.

Kiwewa was also a fellow at the International Society for the Performing Arts (ISPA). He has diplomas in music composition and performance as well as audiovisual production.
