Duncan Mighty

Bio

Duncan Mighty (Duncan Wene Mighty Okechukwu) is a Nigerian singer and producer. Working mostly in the high life genre, his songs are performed in Ikwerre, a language indigenous to an ethnic group in South-south Nigeria. He was born in 1983 in Port Harcourt (he’s also called Port Harcourt’s First Son).

Like many musicians, Duncan Mighty’s started from church in Port Harcourt, where he was an instrumentalist and choir director. He then studied audio engineering and worked briefly at the Music Society of Nigeria (MUSON) Centre, Lagos.
He returned to Port Harcourt where he worked with a few record companies, and then established AireMighty Records with an associate. In 2008, Duncan Mighty released ‘Koliwater’ his debut album. ‘Koliwater’ spawned hits ‘Ijeoma’, ‘Ako Na Uche’, ‘Scatter My Dada’ and ‘Dance For Me’. Two years later ‘Ahamefuna (Legacy)’ was released. The entire album was produced by the artist. He later won the ‘Indigenous Artist of the Year’ award att the Nigerian Entertainment Awards in 2011.

In 2012, he released ‘Footprints’. The album featured Shaggy among others. ‘Grace and Talent’ came out in 2014.
