NEFCISA

The Music In Africa Foundation (MIAF) is proud of its partnership with the Industrial Development Corporation (IDC) as a Strategic Implementing Partner (SIP) for its Social Employment Fund (SEF). Through this collaboration, MIAF is running a national programme that is creating jobs, addressing skills gaps, and strengthening South Africa's creative industries — in line with the SEF's overarching goal to generate work for the common good and build community value through employment, social contribution, and inclusive economic participation. Operating under the banner NEFCISA (National Employment Facility for Creative Industries in South Africa), the initiative is recruiting and training participants, matching them with host organisations, and has already placed 1 500 workers across the country — surpassing its original target of 1 000. NEFCISA is delivered through a network of 20 host organisations spanning five provinces, who are actively hosting participants and contributing to work for the common good across South Africa's creative and cultural industries. Key Objectives: Support employment and entrepreneurship in the creative industries. Offer skills development and training programmes. Foster partnerships between public and private creative sectors. Promote South African creativity at both provincial and national levels Foster community development through social contribution.

Music In Africa Gender @ Work is a three-year training programme aimed at upskilling and increasing the participation of female professionals in the African music sector. Launched by the Music In Africa Foundation (MIAF) in April 2019, the programme is connected to the MIAF’s ACCES music conference – a pan-African event held in a different African country every year. This connection enables the programme to reach new participants in a different African country every year. The programme marks the beginning of a more concerted effort by the Foundation to support the participation and inclusion of women in all facets of its programmes and the music sector in Africa as a whole. For cultural and creative practitioners and organisations operating in southern Africa, access to funding remains a major challenge. The COVID-19 pandemic has also had a massive impact on government policy, spending and the economy in general, and has seen spending on culture being moved further down the list of priorities. Further, the cultural and creative industries repeatedly cite four main areas where investment is needed for growth, which are increased visibility, mobility including access to new markets, finance and support structures.

BIO

DOTTi The Deity is a leader among the new crop of Neo-Folk artistes springing out of the buzzing Southwestern part of Nigeria. A dynamic, highly creative songwriter and recording/performing artist with unique, strong, and skilled vocals, he is not scared to borrow from the sound of the lost-era of Nigerian Folk music to create a fresh and timeless sound.

He hails from the ancient city of Ibadan and was born to Serifat, the second wife of Amusat Okeowo. Separated from his family a few years later, he had to live with his grandparents in Lagos, Nigeria, where he began to hone his musical skills.

He composed his first song at age six, while playing at the dining table in his Grandfather's house, later growing up to draw inspiration from different genres of music, from Jazz, Soul, Yoruba Folk, and Pop music, creating his own unique blend of sound which he calls Nu Age Folk.
Amongst other personal achievements, DOTTi was the maiden winner of the MTN Y'ELLOSTAR Music competition.

His first single 'Jolly Christmas' was released on the 14th of December, 2019, and was produced by Rotimikeys. He followed that up with his first EP aptly named 'Songs in Isolation' during the 2020 COVID-19 Pandemic. The project was a compilation of 5 songs inspired by his experiences during the lockdown.

In 2022, he released the critically acclaimed classic "Forever Sweet", a song celebrating unadulterated love, a love that lasts forever.
The song as since garnered over 1 Million streams across digital streaming platforms and is currently the go-to song for viral wedding proposal videos on social media. Amassing over 300,000 videos using the song on TikTok and over 50,000 on Instagram.
The song peaked at #1 on Spotify’s Viral 50 - Nigeria chart ahead of songs from established names like Asake. The song also made it to #13 on Spotify’s Viral Hits in Africa playlist.
DOTTi The Deity has worked as a songwriter and vocalist with some popular names within the Nigerian music industry including, Cobhams Asuquo, RotimiKeys, Omawumi, and many others. He has voiced and/or written popular jingles for radio and TV advertisements including GTBank Quick Credit advert & British American Tobacco Foundation campaign song titled ‘Wealth is here' adverts both produced by Cobhams Asuquo, Dettol Sure advert, Lipton Ice Tea advert as well as Mouka Foam advert to name a few.
DOTTi believes and proclaims his gift is from God and aspires to drive positive cultural change in the next generation using his music.
