Crazy Fish

Bio

Crazy Fish is a Zambian music quartet with members who emerge from diverse backgrounds. The outfit is made up of Ronald Chikwase on Bass guitar, Ackim Mbao on Drums, Sam Nyambe on Keys and Sam Chitundu on Lead guitar.

Ronald started playing keyboard in 2004, at a church in Luanshya in the Copperbelt Province of Zambia called Revival Mission Centre. He moved acoustic guitar two years later (2006) then moved onto the bass guitar in 2007. He used to sing in choir at the same church. When he moved to the capital city, Lusaka to pursue further education in Music, he enrolled at Evelyn Hone College in their Music Teaching program in 2012 and in 2014 he graduated with a Music Teacher’s Diploma.

Ackim started playing drums in 2009 at a local church (Great Commission Bible Church). His inspiration stems from great gospel musicians/drummers like Calvin Rodgers, George McCurdy, Aaron Spears, Adrian Bent, Larnell Lewis, Eston Mwape and his mentor Kasonde Sunkutu. He intends to keep playing drums and to develop that as his main instrument.

Sam Nyambe is born to Zambian parents in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, the U.S. in a musical family of five, was born with a love for music and at the age of 15 began playing keyboards. His love for RnB and Black American gospel pushed him towards artists of those genre's such as Mali Music, Darrel Walls of The Walls Group and Cory Henry, where he gets his inspiration. Sam’s strengths as a keyboard player are his unique touch on the keyboard which is a blend of RnB, Classical Piano and Afro-soul. He is a ZMA 2015 Best Keyboard Player Nominee.

Born to a music teacher (his mother) Sam Chitundu’s home was constantly filled with music. After many failed attempts at learning and mastering the piano, he asked his parents for piano lessons on his 13th birthday, but his older brother convinced him to get a guitar instead. He picked it up learning from various sources: books and teachers, the most influential being Mr Charles Muyamwa who trained him mainly in the classical discipline. He spent most of his time in music playing acoustic guitar and singing at church for the youth worship team, where he learnt a lot about structure and being a team player.

He later began playing and recording guitars for Mag 44, Pompi, Abel Chungu, and Tio, and many other artists, mainly in the Gospel circles. Collectively they are known as crazy fisH. Crazy fisH was born in February of 2015.

Enter Ackim Mbao. After what felt like a Spanish inquisition, Ackim was the drummer and immediately after that the four signed to Atmosphere Music, an artist management division that manages Pompi, Flow1ne and Musubila. They are slated to release their first single before the end of 2015.
