Bullet Ya Kaoko

Bio

Bullet Ya Kaoko is one of Namibia’s leading cultural groups. Their performances are characterized by the sounds of keyboards fusing traditional Oviritje and kwaito grooves. The group has gained exposure following performances at high-profile events. They were invited to perform at the 2010 and 2014 FIFA World Cups in South Africa and Brazil respectively. The group has also performed at events such as the Adventure Travel World Summit, the Pan-African Parliamentary Summit, the SADC Parliamentary Forum Summit and independence celebrations in Angola and Botswana. Back home in Namibia, they have performed at events such as World AIDS Day, World Tobacco Day, the Okahandja and Olufuko Trade Fairs, the Luderitz Crayfish Festival, the /Ae//Gams Festival and many more.

Between August and September 2015, the group embarked on a month-long tour of Washington DC and New York in the USA. They also toured Toronto and Vancouver in Canada, and Manchester and London in the UK. They have also been invited to perform at events in Belgium, China, Brazil, Germany, Kenya, South Africa and Zimbabwe. They have plans to establish a Bullet Ya Namibia Foundation to help underprivileged children from across the country. In 2015 Bullet Ya Kaoko won in the Best Oviritje category at the NAMAS.
