Bio
Boitumelo Thulo, simply known as Boity, is a South African media personality, artist, actress, model, and businesswoman. She was born on April 28, 1990, in Potchefstroom, North West.
She studied psychology and criminology at Monash University, but later dropped out due to a lack of funding. She knew from a young age that she wanted to be in the entertainment industry. Soon after, she signed with a casting agency, which resulted in her appearing on a Wimpy commercial in 2010. That was her first time appearing on the big screen, but most certainly not her last. Throughout her career, she has featured in various films, commercials, and shows as an actress and presenter. She co-hosted the SABC1 youth reality series Zoned in 2012. In June 2013, she began starring in the Mzansi Magic drama series Rockville as Mpho Bogatsu. In July 2015, Boity was a presenter at the fifth instalment of the MTV Africa Music Awards, where she presented the award for Best Collaboration.
After building a reputation for herself as an actress and presenter, she decided to launch her music career in 2017. She performed alongside Nasty C as the opening act for Migos during their concert in South Africa. She then collaborated with Nasty C once more when she released her debut single “Wuz Dat?” in 2018. The song was a massive hit, with millions of streams across platforms. Her follow-up single, released in 2019, “Bakae”, was yet another success. Her latest release, at the time of writing, is her second album called The Extra Mile, a collaboration with the artist Roiii.
Outside of music and film, Boity has built a successful brand and business empire. In 2016, she collaborated with Sissy-Boy for a jean collection. In 2018, she partnered with Impulse SA in creating limited-edition fragrances. In 2021, Boity announced the launch of her new beverage alcohol and non-alcoholic drinks. The BT signature. In 2019, Thulo was named as one of Forbes Africa's 30 Under 30 for her contribution to the music and entertainment sector.
Boity is undeniably a mogul and an icon in the African media space. She has achieved so many things throughout her career, and undoubtedly, there is more still to come.
