Bio
Bheki Nqoko, also known as 'Mr Kuwe', is a South African singer, songwriter, arranger, engineer, and producer. Born in Ntuzuma, Durban, he grew up in a devout Christian family and initially aspired to be a gospel singer. However, Durban’s rich musical traditions led him to explore secular genres like pop, hip-hop, folk, choral, and jazz
He gained early experience as a lead vocalist, songwriter, arranger, and conductor for the 'Ntuzuma Mass Choir' before joining 'Stax' , one of Durban’s well-known Afro-fusion bands. In the late 1990s, he moved to Johannesburg, where he worked as a session musician with legendary artists such as 'Brenda Fassie' , Rebecca Malope, Ringo Madlingozi, and Busi Mhlongo(
His career also includes performances in musicals like Maria Maria (1997), Woza!, and 'Jubilation'
In 1997, he launched his solo career with the gospel album *Mina Nawe*, though it was not widely received. However, he later found success with the Afro-pop vocal harmony group Kofifi, releasing the album 'Emakhoneni' in 2005. Over the years, he has collaborated with artists like 'Siphokazi' Maraqana, Lundi Tyamara, 'Mr Staff' , and 'Kelly Khumalo', who featured on his song 'Ngiyamthatha'
