Abigail

Bio

Abigail, née Abigail Chamungwana is a talented songstress and multi-instrumentalist based in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. At only 18 years old, she is one of the youngest African artists to officially be signed to a Major record label - Sony Music Africa.

Abigail’s music is characterized by lively pop melodies and soulful Afro RnB arrangements that allow her to show off her impressive vocal range and bubbly personality. In addition, she sings in three languages, English, Swahili and French, allowing her to appeal to a broader audience.

Currently, the artist is working on a self-titled EP ABIGAIL, which she hopes will relay her true essence to the world and make a distinct etch on the Tanzanian, African and global Afro music scene. Abigail hopes to make music that people can make memories to, songs that live on and are relevant through the different phases of her fans’ lives.

She’s also passionate about mental health and founded a program called Teen Talks with Abby Chams, a platform for the youth in Tanzania to discuss and solve issues they face. In 2020, Abigail was appointed as the UNICEF Youth Advocate in Tanzania for Mental Health and Gender-Based Violence.

Visibly, her musical talent is a powerful conduit for social change.

When she’s not making hits or in between online classes earning her business degree, Abigail is eating out to appease her inner gourmand, walking her dogs or spending time with her family, a vital source of support in her music career and life in general.
