SAMRO Foundation

The SAMRO Foundation is the social investment and education arm of the Southern African Music Rights Organisation (SAMRO). Its aims include the promotion of the arts through sponsorships of various kinds, encouraging excellence in the arts through education, facilitating economic participation in the creative economy, influencing cultural and arts policy by means of research and advocacy, and promoting living cultural heritage.

The foundation gives broad support to composers, musicians and arts organisations in South Africa. It offers some of the largest scholarships and bursaries for music students in the country. The foundation also houses one of the largest archives of original South African art music, holding over 100 000 scores, a valuable resource for researchers and artists. Through its Stakeholder Hub, the foundation builds relationships with other arts organisations and helps incubate growing businesses.
