Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards 2019: All the nominees

DJ Khaled will host the awards that feature categories spanning music, TV, movies and social media.

Nigerian artist Davido was nominated in the Favourite Global Music Star category. The ‘FIA’ singer is competing against BLACKPINK (Asia), Troye Sivan (Australia/New Zealand), David Guetta (Europe), Taylor Swift (North America), J Balvin (Latin America) and HRVY (UK).

Sauti Sol (Kenya) and Stonebwoy (Ghana) are competing against radio personality IK Osakioduwa (Nigeria) and actress Adesua Etomi (Nigeria) in the Favourite African Star category, while the Favourite South African Star category features rapper AKA, actress Nomzamo Mbatha, rugby player Siya Kolisi, cricketer Kagiso Rabada and TV personality Somizi Mhlongo.

Other nominees include Maroon 5 (US), Camila Cabello (Cuba/US), Shawn Mendes (Canada), Ariana Grande (US), Billie Eilish (US), Cardi B (US), Dan + Shay (US), Juice Wrld (US), Kane Brown (US) and Post Malone (US).

“Everyone who knows me will tell you, I am a big kid at heart,” AKA said. “So to get a nod from the kids is super special. It says the kids are listening and paying attention and that for me, as a dad, is a huge deal and an honour.”

Actress and activist Mbatha, who attended the nominees announcement in Johannesburg on 26 February, said: "To be seen and voted for as one of the top five by the kids of South Africa just melts my heart as it’s a validation of what I do.

"The KCAs are all about fun and celebration, the biggest kids’ party in the world. It’s unadulterated fun, while honouring kids’ opinions, and taps into the kid in all of us.”
