Aster Aweke

For more than 30 years, singer/songwriter Aster Aweke has been entertaining audiences across the globe. "Ewedihalehu" (I Love You), her 24th album, was produced with her longtime arranger, Abegasu Kibrework Shiota in 2013 and also features the work of exciting new music producers, Henock Negash, and Maru.

With the release of her many albums – including Aster, Kabu, Ebo, Aster Aweke Live in London, Hagerë, Sugar, Aster’s Ballads, Fikir, and Checheho – Aster has topped both the Billboard and College Music Journal’s (CMJ) specialist charts. Kabu reached and remained at the #1 position for four weeks on the CMJ New World music chart and was in the Top 10 for five consecutive charts (10 weeks) on Billboard’s World Music chart.

She has performed for audiences at the New Orleans Jazz Festival, the Hollywood Bowl, and various European festivals, and has shared the stage with many renowned singers and performers including Hue Masekela, Maria Makeba, Mano Dibango and Bradford Marsalis.
